In this modern world, religion and mysticism often find themselves displaced by the rational, the quantified. Ritual itself, from the grand to the minute, is no longer the subject of the attention it once held. Still, we are creatures of habit, and habits performed long enough hold a sanctity, a power beyond the everyday.

we have a new call for submissions for a group show running from june 28th to july 7th. the theme is ‘karmic trash debt’ (however you choose to take it). get them in!

The Island (our ancestral home-art-space-before-gallery) is on the West Austin Studio Tour. Come visit! 1006 e 47th street. We are stop #121 on the tour and will be open both Saturday (5/19) and Sunday (5/20) from 11-6, with a post-tour party Sunday night.
